About
Five years ago, at 41, I was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. I had two kids at home and no roadmap.
I asked my oncologist what I should eat to support my recovery. I got "just eat healthy." Fruits, vegetables, limit red meat. I asked about supplements, and she didn't know enough to say. I asked about the research I'd been reading, and she told me it was still emerging. When treatment ended, she shook my hand and said good luck. That was it.
I don't blame her. She's an expert in treating cancer. What happens to your body and your life after treatment is a different job, and almost nobody is doing it.
So I did what we all do. I sat at my kitchen table at midnight with 47 tabs open. One study said eat soy, the next said avoid it. My family tried to help. My friends tried to help. Nobody could tell me what actually mattered.
I didn't need more information. I needed a filter. So I became a certified integrative nutrition health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, got certified as a life coach, and kept training in cancer nutrition. I couldn't find the person I needed back then, so I became her.
Rebuild is everything I wish someone had handed me on day one: a plan you can actually follow, straight answers, and a group of women who know exactly what this feels like.
Outside of Rebuild, I'm a mom of two with four pets, and you'll usually find me lifting weights or out on a walk. That's my own rebuild, one small thing at a time.
One change you can keep up does more than a perfect plan you quit in a week.
If something is proven, I'll say so. If it's early research or just marketing, I'll say that too.
Medical decisions stay with your care team. I help with the everyday life part.
